acessible stateroom - cabin adapted for handicap.
alien - not a citizen of, or not belonging to, the country in question.
aft - toward or at the rear of a ship.
azipod - propulsion system of a ships.
beam - either of the sides of a ship.
bellboy - an employee in a hotel who helps guests by carrying their luggage and running errands.
berth - a bed, usually built-in, on a ship or a train.
bildge - the bottom of the ship.
blast - a short loud sound made on an instrument, ship's whistle.
ballast - anything that serves no particular purpose except to give bulk or weight to something or that provides additional stability.
black water - sewage containing fecal matter, in contrast with greywater , which is the waste water from kitchen sink drains, washing machines, and other washings.
boat drill - law requiring crew members to be at certain stations in the event of an emergency. The crew acts as crowd control and guides the passengers in the right direction to the mustering point during an emergency or drill.
bow - front part of vessel.
bridge - the bridge is the control center of the entire ship. Where the steering wheel and navigational equipment are located and from where the Captain spends most of his time nearby.
bulkhead - a partition inside a ship.
bunk - a simple narrow bed built on a shelf or in a recess.
cabin steward - ship's employee responsible for cleaning staterooms.
capers - on board news paper
come about - turn the ship on the way back.
connecting stateroom - the joining together of two cabines.
crew only - access alowed only for crew members.
crew bar - lounge where crew members can relax and the stringent dress code and rules are relaxed.
crewmess - restaurant for the crew.
davits - a small crane at the side of a ship's deck, especially one of a pair of curved metal posts with tackle attached for suspending and lowering a lifeboat.
deck plan - ships map or lay out.
deck - like a story of a building.
draft - the distance between the water line of a ship and the lowest part of its hull, which is the minimum depth of water it requires in order to float.
dry dock - waterless area for ship repairs.
fantail - a rounded overhanging part of a ship's stern.
flag of convenience - flag of a country under which a ship is registered because of its favorable regulations, not for any real connection with the ship's owners or business.
first sitting - a place with facilities and equipment for people to maintain or improve their physical fitness.

fore - at or toward the front, especially of a ship.
forward - bow.
freestyle dining - A new concept of dining on board, where passengers can choose when, where, and with whom they dine, including choosing the same table and waiter every night if that is their preference.
galley - the kitchen on the ship or food preparation area on board.
gangway - the opening in side of a ship used to embark and disembark.
guest privilege - crew member alowed to usefruit the guest designated area.
gratuities - a small gift, usually of money, given to somebody such as a waiter as thanks for service given.
grey water - wastewater generated from domestic processes such as washing dishes, laundry and bathing.
helm - the apparatus used to steer a ship, especially the wheel or handle tiller by which the rudder is turned.
hold - designated cargo area of a ship.
homeport ou turn around - embarkation and debarkation port, beginning or ending of a cruise cycle.
host ou hostess - who invites, welcomes, and entertains guests, often providing them with food and drink.
hull - the body of a ship, excluding other parts such as the masts and engines
inside cabin - an inside cabin on a cruise ship with no porthole, window, or balcony.
knots - unit of speed equal to one nautical mile (6,076 feet) per hour.
lower level ou lower - first deck of a lounge on board.
main seating - first seating.
manifest - list of passengers and crew members names on board ship .
mess - dining area for the crew.
midship - mid part of the ship, where usually the main lobby is or the atrium.
minibar - a small refrigerator in a cabin stocked with alcoholic beverages and often also with soft drinks and snacks.
muster station - can be a lounge or a waiting area from where the guest will be guided by a crew member to the embarkation station.
nautical mile - one minute of latitude or 6,076 feet; about 1/8 longer than a land mile of 5,280 feet.
officermess - a mess for the exclusive use of officers.
offshore - at sea some way from shore.
on board - on the ship.
onshore ou ashore - on land.
open sitting - a new concept of dining on board, where passengers can choose when, where, and with whom they dine, including choosing the same table and waiter every night if that is their preference.
petty officer mess - a mess for the exclusive use of petty officers and officers.
port charges - charges for vessels visiting the port. Charged direct to the cruise lines and transfered to the passangers. Covering the main port services.
portholes - a small round window with a metal frame in the side of a ship.
portmaning - crewmember status, when part of a team on board in a 24 hour call in case of emergency.
port side - left side of the ship, facing forward.
port of call - any port where a ship stops except its home port.

sailing date - embarkation date, biginning of a cruise.
seating assignment - designated seat at the main dining room.
second sitting - after the first seating is over.
sign off - date of the conclusion of a contract, when the crewmember debarks for vacation porpouses.
sign on - check in date on the ship of a crewmember coming back from vacation, transfer from another vessel or coming for the first time.
shipboard - on board a ship.
shore excursion - excursion on land or a sure.
shore excursion desck - a quiosck where the shore excursions can be purchase.
shoreside - land side.
sommelier - an expert on wine, who supervises the ordering, storing, and serving of wine.
special needs - passenger who require assistance for disabilities such as medical, mental, or psychological.
staffmess - a mess for the exclusive use of staff members and officers.
starboard side - right side of the ship, when facing forward.
stateroom - cabine.
stern - the rear part of a ship.
tender - used to transport people and supplies to and from a large ship.
trivia - a quiz game with riddle questions.
wine steward - who supervises the ordering, storing, and serving of wine.
